Have you used Angieslist.com? For a $50 fee you can join for a year and they give you names of companies who have proved to be honest and provide good service. They tell you how long the company has been in business, if they provide free estimates and you can read reviews from people who have used them. Some of the companies have coupons for their services. I used them when the heat went out in a few of our units and I spent $75 when many here were charged $300. I was really happy with the service I received, too. Of course they want you to sign up for the service and not share with your friends and neighbors but if you cannot/don't want to join let me know and I will try to help you out. I have found it to be a worthwhile investment.
