This is meant to be my opinion as a resident and does NOT represent the position of the Board of Managers or me as a member of that Board.

I had problems last week after noticing workers in the telecom room and called BigSkyz last Friday. They said they had been doing some work down there and claim that SBC has that room all screwed up. They said they would be back on Sat and when they came back they called me and asked me if I wanted them to come to my unit to check my connection. By that time things were running a bit more smoothly (and have been since) and so they never came by.

According to BigSkyz, there is at least one person in the building who is having major problems w/ their telephone and they think it might be linked to the screwy situation with lines put in by SBC. I never asked if they were talking SBC voice lines or data lines and I take everything BigSkyz says w/ a grain of salt.

As far as recourse when reception is bad due to weather. Unfortunately, no earthly entity can get satellite signals through a bad thunderstorm. I doubt if any contract w/ any satellite compnay provides for some compensation for outages due to weather and I'm sure USADish/BigSkyz would be less than willing to do anything for us since some people are having trouble getting them to do even contractual stuff.
