I have a suggestion re the animal problem in the elevator. DO NOT ALLOW
ANIMALS ON THE ELEVATORS until the rear elevator can be made pet proof. Then,
once an easily cleaned surface is installed on the floor, pets should be
required to be transported on the rear elevator only. The extra $25 pet
owners paid should more than cover the cost of installing something more
easily maintained than carpeting. Until then, all pet owners should be
required to use the rear STAIRS with their pets. Of course this means that
the lock on the rear gates will need to be adjusted so our keys will work
(What's taking that so long?). It is not only the ignoramus who lets the dog
piss in the elevator (this is the most serious problem), but when the weather
is unpleasant (rain and the soon to be snow) the mess that is made by wet,
muddy pets worsens.

As far as forcing an adult to act responsibly, there is no way to make a rule
against stupidity and no one could enforce such a rule if enacted. I agree
that the only solution, which is probably cost prohibitive, would be video
cameras in the elevator. I guess all we can do is what Tom did and which I
have done in the past and have seen other owners do at times. We will be
forced to continue to clean up after the slobs that cause the problems. It
seems unfair, but I look at it this way: When I owned a home I often had to
pick up papers, clean up dog crap, etc. on my front lawn. I was certainly not
responsible for the mess, but my pride in my house made it necessary.
