elevators-AGAIN

Something HAS to be done to insure that the elevators operate reliably. This a.m. the rear one is broken and the front one has a warning from someone who evidently was stuck on Sunday. On Friday I went up w/ the repairman from All-Types and was asking him about the problems. He agreed that the elevators are "cheap-ass" elevators. Perhaps the time has come to think about rebuilding them and using a company who will offer us some sort of warranty. Yes, this will be an expensive proposition, but we are on our way to financing it w/ a minimum assessment "hit". We have over $20,000 in this year's budget for items that should not occur in the next few years (facade inspection and major plumbing repair).

I, for one, am getting real tired of climbing six flights of stairs on a regular basis. Sure, the exercise is needed, but not when I am laden w/ groceries, etc. Doug's suggestion last week for Sherpa valets, while silly, shows everybody's frustration.

Maybe I'm in a minority, but I would like to think that there is something we can do besides offer excuses. Maybe this was a ploy to get more residents incensed so they will show up at the Board meeting tonight to see if it will be discussed.

Mary
