The balconies are not being removed. A certified structural engineer
prepared a mandatory critical facade inspection (required by the City of
Chicago). The inspection revealed that the balconies were not secured
properly. They rebolted two bolts with structural bolts, previous ones were
cosmetic and provided no support. Also, areas of missing brick, loose
cracked and spalled brick were noted as well as a bowing wall, corroded
lintels, gaps between lintels. These repairs were necessary to comply with
the city code and to prevent future damage into the units. I hope this
clarifies your question. Donna Wlezien, property manager.

I am wondering about this along with Michelle. What has changed? We were
told the cost of our special assessment was so high because our balconies
needed to be removed and then reattached. For the amounts that we are
paying, we could have bought brand new balconies and then some. I didn't see
my balcony removed, did anyone else?
