cable

I was wondering if someone could comment on our cable policy. Our local dealer was unreachable by myself, Loretta, and even the national USA Dish corporation for at least 2-3 weeks. They have made 3 unsuccessful attempts to my place for installation---once wanting to drill holes through my sliding glass door walls for wiring.
Yeah, interesting considering the number of units in our place and that we have only one cable company that provides service here.

Now, they seem to have a completely different set of installation/pricing guidlines than what is posted on the USA Dish website. I understand we represent a "MDU" (multiple dwelling unit). But, does that mean that we should expect and accept less? For example, if you want DVR along with your standard cable...USA Dish national service line (tech support) told me that a single, combination reciever is available and without any additional cost with first time installation. Our local retailer told me, however, that i would need to have a cable reciever installed first and then purchase or lease an entirely separate reciever box for the DVR. When i asked him about the combination box, he contacted his boss(owner??) and responded that they cannot honor this. He also alluded to the idea that these installation and purchase/leasing costs is partly how they make a profit.

I'm not knocking the individual who i spoke with...he was actually quite helpful. But, i'm amazed that cable installation can be such a delicate and difficult thing to accomplish.

Does anyone know what i can do or does anyone have DVR? I feel like my hands are tied since i can't use another company...but i would expect the one we have to provide a service that parallels the standard every other household is given.

Frustrated...and i'm already at the stage of chanting "Serenity Now"

Properties going to tag the vehicle with a sticker?

Thanks for your reply Jim.

Normally, towing should be done only as a last resort, and after
sufficient attempts to contact the owner have occured. Although we've
discussed this on the list, it's possible the owner isn't subbed (although
about 2/3s of the units are subbed). However, 1P distributed the blurb
about visitor parking under the doors and, as of yesterday, there was
what appeared to be a warning note on the windshield of the Audi.
Also, the condo docs are clear: Visitor parking isn't for long-term
storage of vehicles.

That said, I'd opt for giving the owner a few more days in case they are
out of town or there is some other mitigating issue. This would be the
first time we've responded to parking abuse, so erring on the side of
caution might be a bit more neighborly, even in the face of the
unneighborly in-your-face abuse by the owner.

Perhaps somebody could put a new note under the Audi's windshield (or tape
it instead) giving until Weds.

Then, at the next board meeting, we develop a written set of enforcment
rules specifying the policy and indicating the criteria that trigger
towing. I don't have the condo docs at hand, but as I recall, there is
a provision that allows for longer visitor parking with permission
(ie, out of town guests who are staying for a week or more).

I share Chris's anger and frustration, and my emotional side would like
to see the hammer come down. But, the social justice side of me tempers
that with an attempt to "rehabilitate," keep things fair--even if it
costs us some time--and try to educate wayward neighbors about their
responsibilities.
