Over the past 6-9 months the board has been in talks with our attorney and
USA Dish. The results of the discussions were a minor victory for
Vanguard Lofts. We (the association) have agreed not to take legal action
against USA Dish under the conditions that USA Dish will provide
infrastructure upgrades and improve customer service under the current
contract. This agreement is simply in good faith and has NOT cost the
association any money. This is a "happy middle ground" where we (the
association) do not pay any money and get additional services and current
technology available to the residents.

Please keep in mind, your satellite tv is NOT part of your monthly
assessments. Every unit has the option to purchase satellite receivers
and subscribe to the service provided to Vanguard Lofts under contract.

As with all satellite or cable tv services, you (the consumer) have the
option to purchase any equipment and/or programming package offered to
you. USA Dish is now offering HDTV service and new satellite receivers,
DVR units, etc. The upgrade requires that you pay a one time
installation/upgrade fee to USA Dish. You will also need to purchase your
equipment and programming package.

The satellite hookup and equipment can be obtained from USA Dish. The
programming packages for Dish/Echostar are available on the Dish/Echostar
website.

Everyone please keep in mind, USA Dish is a middle man. USA Dish provides
the satellite equipment and customer service to Vanguard Lofts.
Dish/Echostar provides the programming packages.

I can give you some examples of prices, but you'll need to contact USA
Dish and Dish/Echostar for specifics.

Example:
If you upgrade to the HDTV satellite system, purchase the HD-DVR unit, and
get programming:

$100 - one time installation/upgrade fee
$499 - purchase price of the VIP622 DVR unit
$80 per month for programming (Americas Top 200, 20 HD channels, and HD
local channels)

That should give you a basic idea of the cost. Please keep in mind there
are other cheaper alternatives available.

Chris-

Last information that was given is that USA Dish was
required to update the equiptment and service. Do we
know the requirements/cost incurred for aquiring the
new receiver or HDTV service through USA Dish?
