If you're trying to get HDTV installed, you might also send him an
e-mail: Roddy Glen <roddyglen@juno.com>
All we can suggest at this point is to keep calling. If there are enough
complaints over a 30 day period of failure to provide service, we can
have the 1P attorney send another letter of non-compliance to him. Roddy
was out this past week to install hdtv in a unit.

It would serve little purpose. He knows of owners' frustration.
Right now, the Board is trying to find a way to bring alternatives to
you all without winding up in costly, time-consuming, and potentially
harmful litigation. We are still awaiting word from Comcast, despite
reaching out to them again a few days ago. We will try again before
this Wednesday's Board meeting. My own concern, based on previous
contacts, is that they might want a commercial contract for the
building. If so, while owners would be free to chose an alternative
provider, the Association would be required to pay the monthly fees.
That means, in effect, that everybody would be contributing to Comcast
whether they installed it or not. Some of you have raised objections
to this in private email. Don't worry: The current Board is opposed
to another contractual commitment that would put us in a whole, and
on no account should this type of cost be a collective expense.
Our goal is to bring choice and quality service to the building.
I contacted AT&T this week. They indicated that U-Verse would be
available in the West Loop area "in the very near future." The contact
said it could be a month, or it could be six months, but it's coming.
Again, the catch: we (and they) didn't know what they will require from
the Board/Association, or how it would affect our current contract.
The contact indicated that AT&T also has a partnership with Dish Network
that we might explore. He didn't know details. I'll check on it this
week.
Some people (including me) are switching to AT&T's DSL. AT&T is offering
6 Mbps at $34.99 a month. that's about seven times faster than the
average speed I'm getting with BigSkyz (at $22.99 a month).
Hope this helps.
Jim
