This escalates the parking issues. Over the weekend, a thunderbird
was parked on the upper level in others' spots (in #3, #8, and #11).
This appeared to be a resident's car. Here's a jpg of the offending car

What are our options when others take our spaces before we officially
close on them? After we close on them?

The parking garage, both upper and lower levels, are both a safety
and security problem. If the information on design is correct, there
appears to be only one exit from each (excluding the entry gate), and
only one exit from the alley into the building. As others have indicated,
the back entry into the building is less than secure.

Possible solutions for the Board to consider at the next meeting:

1) Add another exit on the upper and lower levels
2) Remove the double-door entrance in back and allow entry through
the current freight door (or create a second door there)
3) Increase lighting in the area
4) Hire a security guard
5) Install an alarm system at the upper and lower levels of the
   parking structure
6) Install a video security system for the building, including the
   perimeter
7) Encourage the Board to take a more aggressive and proactive
stance toward dealing with securiy issues and resident complaints

Mary raises another issue that we should consider:

Many of us have partners who also have cars. Our units are designed
for a single car. Yes, we knew this when we moved in. But, given the
security issues and the number of two-car units, I request that the
board begin now to address ways to accomodate the parking problem.
With the conversion of our next-door building to lofts in the near
future, street parking will be scarce or non-existent.
