I also have noticed a problem with the upper level door. Whenever it shuts,
it slams into the concrete wall. I am sure that this cannot be good for the
motor and gears. Also, when it opens, it slams into itself. I am sure that
if this keeps happening over and over something will break or give out.

Subject: OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR

Michael
I noticed your missive in the lobby regarding the overhead garage door and
just wished to make a couple of comments.

The overhead door has been in operation for approximately two months. Six
weeks ago I closed the door manually with the inside control panel and it
stuck in the open position. I hit the reset button and the door continued to

attempt to open which kept tripping the reset button. I contacted you and
Pro Line made a service call. The next day the door was working and I
noticed the chain had been oiled. Two days later, when it broke again, Ali

showed me how the technician had taught him to fix it by hitting the reset
button. It appears that the technician simply hit the reset and oiled the
chain on his first service call. It seems that there was a problem w/ the
up-limit switch in that the door goes past the switch and every time the
button is pressed, the door continues to raise, which pops the circuit
breaker/reset switch. After a while it seems that the door slides down a
bit, the reset switch is reactivated and when pressed, the door will work
again.

A few weeks ago on a Friday, the door broke again in the afternoon. You
sent the Pro-Line tech who came about 5:00 and I stayed w/ him for 40
minutes. By the time he arrived, the door was working. I explained that it
appears to be a problem w/ the up-limit, but he and I could not force it to
malfunction. The last service call I spoke to the tech who told me that when

he had arrived, the reset was malfunctioning. He told me (before I even
spoke w/ him about my observations) that he had reset the up-limit because
he had determined that this was causing a problem.

If indeed, the problem was in the up-limit setting this was faulty
installation and therefore should be the responsibility of the installer.
