A memo went out from First Properties on 3/1/2001 to all owners to change
their mailing addresses on their tax bills. This was (obviously) before
Rezmar deeded over the parking stalls and everyone's tax number changed to
17-17-117-036-xxxx, leaving the unit and parking PIN numbers separate. All
but one unit owner has a 17-17-117-036-10xx PIN number, and all but one
parking spot owner has a 17-17-117-036-11xx PIN number.
I'm going to theorize that some mortgage companies correlated the parking
spots on the mortgage documents with the PIN numbers and paid the tax
bills, that's why only 30 notices were sent out. Case in point, my
mortgage company raised my taxes by ~$300 at the second payment, and I've
found out that my 2001 (payable in 2002) parking spot taxes have been paid.
If you're interested in seeing what the status of your taxes are, you can
go to:
http://www.cookcountytreasurer.com/payments/status/
If you're interested to see if your property will be sold on March 10 for
back taxes *if* back taxes aren't paid, you can go to:
http://www.cookcountytreasurer.com/taxdates/taxsale/
I would also check your address on the bill, and make sure you change it to
go to either you, or your mortgage company. For CountryWide mortgage
owners, Countrywide gets a computer feed of the taxes from the county, so
you can change the address to your home.
