All,
In order to gain access to the telecom closet, you need to contact First Properties and coordinate access. All telecom closets are locked to prevent problems. By coordinating the access through property management we have an audit trail of who was in the closet and the services being performed.
With open access there is no accountability and thus the condo association ends up paying money to resolve issues. Open access = problems = $$$$ for the condo association.
Over the years, we've had a variety of problems ranging from the wrong units being disconnected, to people urinating in the telecom closets.
As stated in the previous post... the AT&T technician may need access to the telecom closet on the 1st floor, but all units are pre-wired. If access is required, contact First Properties.

Typically the closet should be wired already. They shouldn't have to gain access but if there are problems they may need to get access to the closet and you should call 1P to get access. But it should be just fine. I too prefer the good days when I had direct access to all things I needed in the building I paid for... I often wonder I what abuse resulted in that privilege being removed....

Subject: getting new phone service question
Hello,
I'm helping a fellow tenant get land line phone service and was wondering if access to the LAN closets (Dish/cable tv rooms near garbage chute) is necessary. AT&T was clueless on the matter. If so, how do I gain permission/access?
thnx,
Ben
